HTC Butterfly S now available in few stores in the US and Taiwan

The HTC Butterfly S is HTC's second flagship in a short period of time and it's already on sale. Those early prices are not cheap but only a few stores even offer it officially.
One we found is Overseas Electronics – the Butterfly S is available in Black, Grey, White and Red and is priced $850 (US only shipping).
Another store, Negri Electronics, has put it up on pre-order for $770, but unfortunately there's no indication of when it will actually ship.
Ebay, of course, also has a few offers for the Butterfly S but they are even pricier – one from Taiwan is priced at $900.
Speaking of Taiwan, you can find it for about $765 there (NT$ 22,900) in at least three stores.
The HTC Butterfly S packs a 5" 1080p screen, BoomSound speakers (two on the front), Android 4.2 with Sense 5 and Blinkfeed, Snapdragon 600 chipset (quad-core Krait 300 at 1.9GHz, 2GB RAM, Adreno 320 GPU), UltraPixel camera (no OIS) and Zoe, plus a microSD card slot and a massive 3,200mAh battery.

HTC Butterfly update brings Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5

The HTC Butterfly is catching up to its successors – the One and the Butterfly S – with an Android 4.2.2 update that's currently rolling out in Taiwan. The update brings Sense 5 with BlinkFeed and Video highlights as well as better AE/AF performance (but other Sense 5 features will remain exclusive to the One).
The update (an early version of which leaked last month) is in two parts – first a small package of just over a megabyte (which makes sure part 2 installs smoothly), then the big 551MB package.
HTC has not announced an official schedule for the other Butterfly units out there, including the HTC DROID DNA for Verizon, but with the HTC One it didn’t take long from the initial release to worldwide rollout.

Android 4.3 spotted running on HTC One

The "Google Edition" of the HTC One has been spotted at the Bluetooth SIG. The model received certification for Bluetooth on July 5th after the application was filed on June 18th. The model number, PN071, reflects the fact that this is a stock Android handset available from the Google Play Store. As a "Google Edition" model, the phone will receive quick OS updates directly from Google without the carrier testing that slows down the process.

So why would a device already approved for Bluetooth need to go through the whole certification process again? It could simply be due to the Android 4.3 update which will add Bluetooth 4.0 LE support. This is the Low Energy version of Bluetooth that allows a phone to sync with accessories like heart rate monitors, thermometers and other similar monitors.

Keep in mind that Android 4.3 has not been officially announced by Google, but we could see it rolled out sometime later this month for Google Edition and Nexus devices with a possible refresh version of the Google Nexus 7 tablet, recently seen by the FCC, also getting unveiled.

Android 4.2 update rolling out for HTC One Dual Sim

HTC created a special Dual Sim version of its HTC One flagship, which is limited to several markets like India, China and Russia. Strangely enough this is also the first One variant to receive Android 4.2.2 (not counting the Nexus Edition), the worldwide version of the flagship is still on 4.1.2.
The update brings a number of improvements to both the Android base and HTC's customizations. There's a widget-enabled lockscreen, quick toggles in the notification area plus smaller enhancements like rearranging homescreen panes, battery percentage in the status bar, options for the Home button to remove the on-screen Menu button.
The Camera and Zoe apps were improved too – now you get AE/AF lock, an updated Zoe file format that handles videos better and 6 new themes for Video highlights.
The update weighs in at 175MB and is only for the dual-SIM version of the phone. The update for the regular HTC One should come out soon. This might be HTC playing it safe, first releasing the update for the rarer One Dual Sim to make sure there are no issues before launching for the the more popular HTC One.

HTC One for Verizon pictured with no carrier logo in front

Verizon has a thing about marking the smartphones it launches with its insignia. It is almost always placed on the front side of the device, reminding the user who is providing them with service. And sometimes, the carrier's logo can be slapped in the most awkward of places.

However, things are likely to be different when the HTC One finally gets released on Verizon. What we have here is a leaked press photo provided by a trustworthy source showing what the carrier's version of the device should look like. And no, there is no Verizon logo placed on the front of the smartphone. In fact, the only detail proving that this is in fact a Verizon HTC One is the "4G LTE" icon seen in the status bar. Yet we're pretty sure that a Verizon logo is still present on the back of the handset.

It was about a month ago when Verizon announced its plans on launching the HTC One. The carrier, however, has yet to provide us with a more specific launch date. Pricing at this time is also anyone's guess.

HTC One Mini launch rumors continue to grow louder

The rumors for an HTC One Mini just keep getting louder and louder. At this point, it’s practically imminent that we see HTC confirm the One Mini to be a smaller version of the very well-received HTC One. The One Mini, otherwise known as the HTC M4 for now, would have a smaller display and less powerful specs, although still powerful enough to get the job done.
The latest rumor has an announcement pegged for before the end of July and an official release some time in August, probably toward the beginning of the month. A German publication, Teltarif, even claims to have discovered carrier O2 should have the HTC One Mini in stock on August 3rd. In the United States, the smartphone is reportedly headed for AT&T and T-Mobile.
Getting into spec specifics (alliteration to the max!), rumors indicate the HTC One Mini will have a smaller 4.3-inch 720p display, an unknown dual-core processor of some sort, a similar UltraPixel camera, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and Sense 5. Luckily, it’s almost certain that HTC won’t use a cheaper external design, instead opting to use the same high-quality metallic shell found and praised in the HTC One.
Pricing is up in the air for now as well, but since the One Mini will be a smaller and less-powerful version of the One, you can safely expect to pay less for it once it’s available.

HTC One launches in attention-grabbing red just for the UK

HTC has revealed an attractive new colour for its flagship smartphone as
an exclusive for Phones 4u customers.

Just when you thought the HTC One couldn't get any better, it'll now be
arriving with a fetching new red outfit, just for UK customers.

The Taiwanese company has just revealed a new "Glamour Red" version of the smartphone that will be launching here next month.
But there's a catch, you see. The new model will be available exclusively to Phones 4u customers when it arrives in the UK from mid-July.
There's no telling if this is to be a permanent arrangement, or whether HTC will open it up to other customers as time goes on.

"The new HTC One in Glamour Red showcases the power of our flagship model in a colour that demands attention, whilst maintaining the high standards set for sophisticated design and build quality,” said Philip Blair, President of EMEA, HTC.
Of course inwardly it's still the same 4.7-inch, quad-core powered beauty that picked up five stars in our in-depth review.
